It's a Sunday, and most of the human beings have their weekend. So it is an Independence Day, isn't it?
As of August 15th, the "Independence Day" of our country, India, flags are being hoisted, colorful functions and patriotic songs have surrounded the environment. Our Capital has a great show there, like every year.
What is "Independence" by the way? I mean, the two words "Independence" and "Freedom" are vastly used on this special day.
Are you Independent? Are you Free?
WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved toconstitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC
REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;
and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and
integrity of the Nation;
IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949,
do
HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.
THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA OF 1950
The underlined words from the premble above signify and mean our Independence, Freedom and Liberty, ain't they? Please take a look around- where are they? If you don't know the meanings of the English words, a dictionary could help you more than I could. But honestly, are you seeing them around? Exceptions are no actions, they are just mere exceptions.
And oh yes, How can I forget- We were supposed to enact it, instead of a big huge written constitution, we were supposed to implement it ! Have we did it?
Here I am using 'we' because I am writing this post, having no work to do as it's a Sunday and it's raining outside, to the nation- my nation. The nation who knows ONLY to celebrate; nothing else.
It's damn true that we have 'forwarded' from 1947-50 to 2010; then we were one of the poorest countries looted by some businessmen-turned-rulers. They were handful compared to our mass strength, still we were continuously looted, tortured, murdered....
And this is not the first time. I wonder why we prefer beating our own countrymen to other when a wrong deed is done? History guys will know better, but for those who hate past and look forward to achieving 'lost glory' (perhaps some by going abroad!), Indians have never learnt a lesson from the history.
The same disaster that has dominated our fate- the fate of a diverse,split nation is coming up in a newer and more modern form. History does repeat itself, it's true! Are we prepared.
Like all of you, I love my country and my nation very much. But I can foresee what's happening; you can't because when there is sunlight, you never think that the night is coming. I won't forecast (I'm not a fortune teller or Tarrot card-reader, I swear! :) ) anything, you find it yourselves and figure it out.
All the very best, my countrymen!
